The Rear View (And We Don't Mean The Mirror)

When the officiant ask for everyone to stand for the entrance of the bride, we all turn our head and watch the vision of loveliness walk down that aisle.  What about the rear view, does anyone remember?   You would if the bride's dress had any one of these looks.

The Year of the Non-White Dress

Last year was just a glimpse of the start of the non-white dress.  Yes, brides are becoming bolder and forgetting about the old tradition and creating their own.  The designers have recognized and definitely not afraid to cater to the needs of the daring.  From the soft pastels to the deep bold hues, just like white your choices are endless.

Now, let's get inspired!

Customizing Your Wedding Gown

From head to toe a bride knows how she wants to look on her wedding day.  You look through tons and tons of magazines as well as visiting the bridal fashion shows looking for that dress you have always imagined yourself wearing.  Finally, you find the dress that fits you like a glove.  It's your style and personality but it seems to be missing a certain something.  We can fix that with customization.

Customization can be done with the smallest amount of work, time, and money; all it takes is imagination.

Bling it up with a Brooch:
If you have a simple gown with no intricate beading, consider adding a fabu brooch to your bustle.  It will definitely bring a sparkly detail to your gown.

Belt It Up:
Belts are a great way to add some personality and a splash of color to your look.  Using a wide or thin band of colored fabric, or elaborate pieces with beads and pearls will help give your dress that extra WOW you are looking for.  Just a reminder, sashes draw attention to the waist so make sure you experiment with different widths.

Strap It Up With Embellishments:
Adding sparkling straps to your strapless gown gives you two looks, one for the ceremony and one for the reception.

Cover it Up:
There’s nothing like a nice cover-up to give your gown a bold entrance.  A shrug, cape, or jacket will definitely do the trick.

The Dress Is White...Or Is It?

Here comes the bride, all dressed in white…..or not.  The modern bride is smart, traditional, daring, adventurous, exciting, full of life, and most of all she is not yesterday’s bride.  She is no longer limited to the traditional “white” wedding gown and as in every aspect of the wedding, she now has options, options, and options.

Choosing a colored wedding dress is not easy as you think. Your traditionalists may raise a brow or two so if the majority of your guests are conservative you may want to think twice.  Another issue would be your color choice, with so many shades to choose from, your decision may become somewhat difficult.

Here are a few tips to help pick the perfect color:

*  Choose a color that you love and will look good on you.
*  Pick a shade that will blend well with the wedding.
*  Choose something that expresses your personality and style.
*  Select colors that blend well with the season.

Color is a great way to stand out with your wedding gown. Just be careful, you don’t want to look like you’re going on a prom or to a black tie dinner.

Let’s get inspired!

If you are not sure about the entire dress in one color, try a two tone gown

Just enough purple to see the color but not too much to be overwhelming

There's nothing like a platinum bride - Cynthia Bailey chose a gown that was stunning

Don't be afraid of red but make sure you can pull it off and it goes with the scheme of the wedding

Be as subtle or as bold as you like

Trash the Dress

Often, brides wonder what to do with the dress after the wedding.  Will you save it for your daughter, will you sell it on EBay, or will you give it away? How about “Trash the Dress”?

According to Wikipedia - Trash the dress, also known as fearless bridal or rock the frock, is a style of wedding photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is out of place. “Trash the dress" is the art of destruction or deconstruction of a brides wedding dress to create a new artwork that the bride would be proud to display on their wall.

Now, in layman’s terms – “Trash the Dress” is simply that…trashing the dress.  Shortly after the wedding, a year later, or whenever you feel the spirit, you and your photographer create an artistic photo session trashing your dress.  You are allowed to do whatever you feel that trashing the dress would mean to you; standing/floating in the lake, sitting on railroad tracks, or laying in the street to name a few.  And you don’t have to do it alone; your husband will be a great addition to the photos.

So what will it be, seal the dress in plastic heaven never to be seen again or have a fun photography session?
