Venue Tips That Save

Have you picked your wedding date?  Is it a date with special meaning?  What if you had the opportunity to choose a date that would save you a significant amount of money?  Nearly every venue has a high and low season.  Depending on the region, winter and late summer are usually less than fall and spring.  Talk it over with your family and remember the venue wants to fill the calendar.

I know, you want a Saturday evening so you can bathe in happiness on Sunday.   Not to worry, you can still soak but how about having your celebration on a Thursday or Friday evening, Saturday brunch, or anytime on a Sunday.  You can save approximately 20% and most times have the same choices as a Saturday evening.  If you are open to the idea and the sales manager does not mention it your planner will.

If you do not have to have your ceremony in a church, temple, or sanctuary look for a venue that can accommodate the ceremony and the reception.  You will save on decorations, second rental fee, limo costs, and your guests will save on transportation.

You want to wow your guests with a gorgeous venue and beautiful tables, however, your budget does not allow for you to splurge on linens.  Do not fear.  If you can’t splurge on the tablecloths splurge on the napkins and/or use table runners.  If you have the right planner/designer they will still be able to wow your guests with quality napkins that are color coordinated with the event.

Let's Have A Seat

One - Your guest walk up to a table, tell the hostess their name, she/he checks the guest off the list and advises what table you are sitting.

Two – Your guest walk up to a beautifully decorated table and look for their name on an escort card and proceed to their table.

Three – The bride and groom have decided on open seating except for the reserved family tables.

However you choose to seat your guests make sure it’s done with class and expediency.  You don’t want a line and your guests don’t want to be in line.  Based on the number attending, make sure you have enough hosts/hostesses on hand to assist your guests with ease.  Depending on the direction of your wedding you and your planner can be as creative as you like.  I hope these ideas will inspire.

What's Your Color?

Everyone has a favorite color.  It’s probably a color that goes well with your skin or a color that you formed an attachment to when you were younger.  Whatever it is and however you captured it, own it.

2012 is the year of using bold vibrant colors.  Most brides want to incorporate their favorite color when deciding what will be their “wedding colors”.  Don't be afraid to mix your favorite color with a color you would least expect to match.  Your planner will be able to assist on how and where to display your colors in a beautiful and unique way.  Pantone has chosen Tangerine Tango as their color for 2012.  Try it with your fav, you may be surprised at the results.

Inspiration boards are a good way to see your vision come to life.  They will allow you to decide and/or change if needed.  In the meantime check out these boards for inspiration.

The Right to "Shoes"

Just in case you’re thinking “no one will really see my shoes”, think again.  Shoes are an important part of your wedding ensemble.  You will take a lot of time picking the perfect pair of shoes to go with the perfect dress for your perfect day.  Traditional or unique, white or a color, high or medium heel……decisions, decisions.

Although you don’t realize it, your wedding shoes will have their own photographic moment pre-ceremony, when the garter is removed, and sometimes post reception.  Depending on the length and style of your dress your shoes will definitely be captured.

Make sure they are comfortable.  Practice walking in them every chance you get.  You don’t want to be saying your vows and thinking “I can’t wait to get out of these shoes”.  This will also give you the opportunity to practice your sassy, sophisticated, sexy walk.

Whether you pay $20 or $1020 you want your shoes to be seen, if only for a moment.   Remember, you have the right to “shoes”.

Creative Wedding Photography

Photography is not just pictures of family, friends, and events; photography is visual art.

Your wedding is an important celebratory event where the pictures are meant to last for a lifetime.  Depending on your taste, you want to make it a priority to discuss with your photographer and coordinator the style of photography you want to see in your photos.  Whatever your style, creativity is the key to getting the most out of your photos.

Start to think outside the box.  Something that you may think is silly, your photographer will capture as fun.  Visit your venue and the surrounding area and begin to create ideas that will make you want to look at your photos over and over.  Remember this is your wedding and you want your memories to last a lifetime.
