Something For The Groom

Most blogs, bridal magazines, Facebook posts, and even Pinterest posts are geared towards the bride.  Today I wanted to let the grooms know we have not forgotten about them.

Today's groom is no longer only choosing his tux and the attire for his groomsmen.  They are starting to have a say in the style, theme, decor, and all other aspects of the wedding.  Yeah for the grooms, after all it's their wedding too.

The modern groom is adding color to the attire, getting rid of that tux that they never liked, and making suggestions that can only result in having a good time at the reception.  From creating a fun look for the photos to dancing all night long on the floor, the groom has come alive for 2014.

Now, Let's Get Inspired!

Gone are the black tux and tie.  Grooms are adding color
and proud to wear it.

Great photo op.

Grooms are not just tossing the garter,
they are throwing a pass

No more traditional boutonniere with a rose or calla lily,
florists are helping the grooms think out the box

Grooms and his attendants are collaborating and creating
great ideas to show the wedding is his too.

Putting the You, Him, & Us In Your Wedding

Planning one of the most celebrated days of your life can be a whirlwind.  You want to make sure that all your guests leave with fun memories and talking about your wedding for days.  The only way to accomplish that is to make it yours.  Create nuances throughout your wedding where your guests will definitely know the ceremony and reception was all about you.

Now, Let's Get Inspired!

Skip the traditional seating.  Try an arrangement that will catch
your guests attention as soon as they walk up for your ceremony.

Talk with your caterer and create a signature drink.  Give it a name
and taste that has you and your fiance's personality all over it.

Instead of flowers, try an alternative bridesmaid bouquet.

Make it more than just your initials, create your own logo
and display it at your reception, use it on your stationary, or make a stamp.

2014 Trending Flowers - Part 3 Confetti

As I continue this series on 2014 trending florals I was overjoyed when I researched the trend Confetti.  This trend makes me say ooh and ahhh. I love color and these bold and bright hues speaks to the bride that shouts let's have fun.

This explosion of color can be found in florals like dahlias, poppies, gerbera daisies, carnation fuji mums, and gloriosa lilies. You can definitely express yourself with colors like tangerine, fuchsia, bright green, and bright yellow which make up the Confetti trend. Make sure to include some great patterns like chevron stripe, tones of ombre, and neon hues.

This trend is definitely for the unpredictable couple that is not afraid to express themselves and go bold, bright, and beautiful.

2014 Trending Flowers - Part 2 Grandlodge

Last week I started a four part series on 2014 trending flowers.  Today you will find out about the Grandlodge trend.

"Mountain-chic and Rustic" are terms that will be thrown around a lot this wedding season.  Flower Trends describes the Grandlodge trend as "melting smores in a big stone fireplace while drinking champagne from Baccarat crystal flutes".  This mix of natural simplicity and luxury is a trend that we are familiar with and it looks this year it is continuing with a bang.

The colors that work with Grandlodge are cream, stone, mossy green, chestnut, and blue-grey. Leather bond books and old world typewriters are just a couple of objects that work well with this "masculine meets feminine" trend.

Florals such as sweet peas, white and green hydrangea, chocolate cymbidiums, and fern tips can create an arrangement that will compliment your rustic pieces with style.

2014 Trending Flowers - Part 1 Revival

The beginning of the New Year is always exciting for wedding / event planners.  The holidays have come and gone and the ring finger on a lot of ladies has some new bling.  That's right, many couples have gotten engaged and now it's time to start the planning.

Every year brings about new trends and with so much to decide on I'm going to start with your florals.  Not to overwhelm you, in this blog I will start with part 1 of what I have found to be your trending 2014 florals.

Revival - This is a mesh of vintage, modern pop culture, and art deco.  The colors that encompass this trend are the soft pastels; mint, blush pink, and peach accented with black for high contrast and gold as the metallic to intensify the colors.  The blooms that are found in this trend are garden roses, orchids, the peony, and calla lilies.

Now that you know have the first of what the trends are, get with your planner and florist and add
your own little twist to express who you are as a couple.

And the Pic of the Week

Happy New Year All!

For our first Pic of 2014 I thought I would start at home.  Everyone likes to entertain at home; whether it's an intimate dinner, a girls night in, or a small gathering of family and friends you can turn any room into the perfect venue.  Some flowers, beautiful linen, candles, and bring out the good china.  It doesn't have to be costly and you will be surprised what you have around the house that can be used for your decor.  Let's do more entertaining at home.
