When All Else Fails, Candles Will Do

Want a gorgeous tablescape....use candles.  Low on dollars but you have a great idea for a magnificent table.....use candles.  You can use them for a centerpiece, ambiance, fillers, or just because.

Candles are always an inexpensive way to create a great table.  It doesn't matter if you are having a wedding, birthday party, dinner party, or just family dining, when in doubt use candles.

Holiday Tablescapes

The holiday season is definitely upon us and everyone is in decorating mode.  Be it a beautiful home, a quaint apartment, or you're having a holiday wedding table decor is probably top on your list; it is for me.

Given that I love tablescapes, this time of year is full of inexpensive ways to have a fabulous table with plenty of $$ left over.  Your tables can be as elaborate or as simple as you want them to be without breaking the bank.

If you are having a holiday wedding take advantage of the decor that is already in the venue. They all decorate for the holiday so you may as well surround your ceremony and/or reception around the decorations that the venue has already set up.  Having friends over, use some of the ornaments or garland that you have stored away to decorate your table.

I can give you a list of ideas but I would rather show you some tablescapes that are cost effective and your guests will enjoy.

Sizing the Cake

Many couples are concerned about having an abundance of cake leftover whether they are serving as part of the dessert or packaging it.  I may have a solution to that problem.  Check out these cake sizes and the number each cake feeds.

Feel free to print out a copy for your reference on your next visit to the bakery.

Dressing The Man In Your Life

Black Tie, White Tie, Black Tie Optional.  What is a guy to wear?  It often gets very confusing, let me see if I can help you out a little.

Black Tie: This is the most commonly used for any well to do event.  A classic black tuxedo is still the standard at these events.  When attending an event that calls for "Black Tie" it is important to abide by the rules.  The typical tuxedo jacket has a single button and is single breasted with satin peak lapel and no vent, a black bow tie is a must.

Black Tie Optional: Any event that has this option listed understands that not all guests have tuxedos.  Here it is okay to wear a well polished black suit.  Although still formal, the rules are a little more relaxed.  A tie is still a must, however, it doesn't have to be a bow tie.

Black Tie Creative: This gives your man the opportunity to showcase his personal style; color, accessories, and collar and lapel style.  How you should dress will be determined on the type of event you are attending.

Lounge: This dress code allows more option into your own personal look even though it remains formal.  Tuxedos are not needed here.  A suit in a dark neutral color such as black, grey, or navy.  Feel free to be creative with your lapel and collar style.  A tie is still necessary but you are at liberty to wear a pattern or color.

I hope this removes a little of the confusion the next time you get an invitation with the words "Dress Code" on it.
